How To Use This Deck in an Inspirational Card Reading
What Is an Oracle Deck?
Oracle cards are a contemporary version of Tarot cards. They are used for divination and spiritual transformation. Unlike the Tarot, which is always the same seventy-eight messages, only designed differently, each Oracle Deck is unique. It can focus on angels, animals, chakras, you name it. No two Oracle Decks will ever be alike because not only do the images differ, but so do the meanings. This Oracle Deck uses Western Astrology to convey inspirational and transformative messages.
Making the Deck Your Own
Bonding with your cards is a personal and individual activity. To help make the deck your own, spend some quiet time with it, really taking in each card. Look at the image and read its message, and move on to the next card only when you feel you have made a connection to the one you’re holding.
Asking Your Questions
Before each reading, make sure your intentions are clear. Your guides want to help you, but you must be transparent. Be crystal clear with your questions and requests and express gratitude upon receiving the answers. Know that if you ask for help, you will receive it. I personally avoid asking yes and no questions. Instead, I recommend asking the big questions, the open-ended questions, questions whose answers can reveal the complexity of your choices.
Examples of How You Might Phrase Your Requests
Romance
- How does he/she feel about me romantically?
- What are his/her romantic intentions toward me?
- What role do I play in his/her life?
Career
- If I take this job (name the specific job), where will it lead?
- If I start my new business in the next six months, what might be the outcome?
- If I retire in the next twelve months, where might that lead?
Health
- If I run the marathon this year, how will that impact my health?
- If I start my diet tomorrow, what will be the outcome?
- If I get my (name specific medical test) on such and such a day (name specific day), what will be the result?
Look for Synchronicities as Answers to Your Questions
The term synchronicity was coined by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. He used it to describe a meaningful connection between two events that would otherwise be viewed as a mere coincidence. When “coincidences” start to pop up in your life, understand that they are, in fact, synchronicities. Know that your guides are trying to reach you and give you the answers you have requested. Once you start to recognize these synchronicities, they will quickly increase in frequency.
Receiving Versus Controlling Messages
When you ask your question, are you open only to the answer you want to hear? Make sure you are open to receiving messages, not controlling them. If you find yourself having a hard time doing this, I recommend learning meditation and practicing it right before you do your readings. I personally practice Transcendental Meditation. It’s a wonderful technique that will help you unravel stress and anxiety and reach higher states of consciousness.
The Single Card Daily Spread
This is a lovely way to start the day. You can make a simple request, such as, “Please inspire and prepare me for the day.” Take in the image on the card and read its message. Look it up in “The Cards” section of the Guidebook to read its full interpretation. At the end of the day, return to its message and reflect on how it has informed your day.
Keep in mind that if you draw a potentially upsetting card, such as Chiron, which states, “Although a deep and painful wound may be exposed, a powerful healing gateway has just opened,” it does not necessarily mean that you personally are about to experience a traumatic event. The message you receive might be about you, but it might also be about someone you know. It can even speak to an event that you may see or hear about during the day.
Astrologer Mary Keswani taught me one of the most important metaphysical lessons anyone can learn—the more aware you become of your own energy, the less likely out-of balance events will happen to you; and the more likely that when they do happen, they will occur around you. So stay centered and positive.
